From The Rock Came A Lily
Verse 1 –
When the seed of God was buried
in a field of rock and stone,
there was left to rot and fester
as the women wept and moaned.
Then God sent a mighty angel
from around His golden throne,
who brought forth that fairest flower
… from the rock….from a stone.
CHORUS:
From the rock came a Lily
just as pure as pure can be.
He’s the Lily of the Valley
who has come to set us free.
His white petals fold around us
to protect both you and me.
From the rock came a Lily,
Hallelu!
Verse 2 –
In the earth from darkest Friday
to that early Easter morn,
He endured the wrath of Hades
though a shroud alone was worn.
Then God told the Angel Gabriel
to sound forth his mighty horn,
and a Lily blossomed brightly
… from the rock….from a stone.
CHORUS:
From the rock came a Lily
just as pure as pure can be.
He’s the Lily of the Valley
who has come to set us free.
His white petals fold around us
to protect both you and me.
From the rock came a Lily,
Hallelu!
Verse 3 –
That great Keeper of the Garden
loves His flowers one and all,
and He tends to each one dearly
young and old – the large and small.
but His favourite is THAT Lily
which did answer to His call,
and burst forth in all its splendour
…. from the rock…from a stone.
CHORUS:
Oh! from the rock came a Lily
just as pure as pure can be.
He’s the Lily of the Valley
who has come to set us free.
His white petals fold around us
to protect both you and me.
Oh! from the rock came a Lily,
Hallelu!
Oh! From the rock came a Lily,
Hallelu!
Oh! From the rock came a Lily
Hal-l-l-le-lu-u-u-u!
